Man City Made Me A Better Lawyer!

Posted on: May 14, 2012

Those who know me in a personal capacity have probably witnessed me screaming, shouting and occasionally crying whilst watching my beloved Man City over the years! After the heart palpitations began to subside last night, I began to reflect about the years of agony living in a city where the boys in blue were always sneered at by the rivals. What made being a blue even worse was the fact that our nemesis’ supporters could always be found wherever I chose to go on holiday! It’s one of those things you learn to dread when you get in a cab at the airport…The question of where you are from and the almost automatic response  to it being “Manchester United!” I would then have to hide my irritation and smile sweetly and say, “No, Manchester City is my team!” Now, at least, the whole world knows who we are and we are famous for more than just our bank balance! What a match it was!!!

Celebrating Manchester City’s win

In amongst the celebrations last night, I thought about all the mad times. The games when we were down in the 2nd division. That famous play-off final at Wembley against Gillingham…which was, of course,  later overshadowed by United winning the treble! Well now we are the “championes!” No team can overshadow that.

Being a City fan forces you to build character.  I have always been drawn to supporting the underdog. Having that belief that against all odds we could achieve something brilliant carries through in how I approach many of our clients’ cases, often winning cases other firms give up on. I simply have an overwhelming desire to help people right wrongs. I will always go that extra mile to achieve a client’s objective and maybe some of that stems from seeing my team achieve  what was once an impossible dream.

No city fan could ever have predicted yesterday’s result but I think spectacular is possibly an understatement! CTID!
